Missa Cantata in the Extraordinary Form
February 2 is traditionally the 40th day of the Christmas season, Epiphany-tide being within it. The Feast of the Presentation of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary commemorates the event in St. Luke 2:22–40, where a boy was to be presented to God in the Temple and a mother was to be presented for purification by sacrifice 33 days after a boy's circumcision per Leviticus 12.
This feast is called Candlemas as people are encouraged to bring their candles to Mass where they are blessed and then used for the rest of the year. These blessed candles serve as a symbol of Jesus Christ, who is the Light of the World.
Sung Mass (Missa Cantata) at 2PM
